16-bit application hangs

By tracyp ·
I have a 16-bit application that is supposed to run all the time. Every morning I have to go into task manager and end the process 'server.exe' which is under NTVDM
along with wowexec.
NTVDM
server.exe
wowexec.exe
Then I start the application up again and it runs fine all day long. I'm trying to find out when it stops or what's causing it. I'm trying to use Performance monitor but am not getting any useful info.

I get no error messages and event viewer doesn't show anything wrong. I've gone into the Microsoft knowledge base and tried several things suggested there but no luck.

This is an NT 4.0 workstation sp6a
On a Novell 5.1 network using client 4.8
Attached is a digiboard with 4 modems

Any suggestions about how to find when and what is hanging this program?

Try running the application in its own seperate memory space this way if it hangs you know it will not be from interaction with other processes, and if thats the case, its time to get a 32bit app.

Jo,
I just changed it to run in a separate memory space. We'll see tommorrow morning.

Unfortunately a 32bit app is not possible since this is a specific process written by a third party that links the party of the first part with the party of the fourth and a half part and so on.
