    160g disk only reads as 31g after crash

    My computer crashed a while back due to a failing power supply… I had a 160 gig hard drive as my boot drive back then… and after the crash it will only format as 31 gig??? It’s currently sitting in a static bag on my bookcase but if possible I want to repair it so I can use it as a portable drive… Any ideas?

      Some HDD’s have a jumper on them

      Which limit the upper size of the HDD to 31 GIG so if you’ve changed any jumpers look there first.

      If that’s not the problem the Circuit Board on the bottom of the HDD most likely has been damaged by the failing PS and needs replacing.
