16bit application not running under XP

Whenever, i try to open BlackJack (Win Ent. Pack) or WordWeb an error message accurs "config.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and MS Windows application." previously these app were running under XP. Recently i uninstall a few third party application (not the above two) but can't remember which one, but definitely not any microsoft product. Recently, installed directx 8.01

config.nt and autoexec.nt are the sys and bat equivelants for 2000 and nt. These set the environment for dos programs. Open them in notepad to see how they are configures. If they are not needed you need not have the program refer to them when opening. Probably set from the shortcut.

check it and there is no entry in the .nt files

you can try running them in compatibility mode. Go to start/programs/compatibility wizzard, follow the instructions and choose the executable you wish to run. After that, each time you run that program, it will automatically run in that mode.
