16bit or 32bit PC Card

I'm trying to decide on what type of LAN PC Card to buy for my notebooks running Win98 and WinNT4. I saw some listings in the catalog for 16bit and 32bit PC Cards. Is there much of a difference? Is it that newer notebooks will take advantage of 32bit and does it also depend on the OS?

Hi, run the 32-bit on 98 and winnt4. And yes, it does also depend on the OS. 98 and nt are 32 bit operating systems. I don't know what kinds of cards you are looking at, but I've had much luck with 3com and they are industry standard. Good luck.

Hi, just as an additional remark: windows 98 is plug and play so it will work with a wider range of cards than nt. Check microsoft's hcl (hardware compatibility list) on their website (www.microsoft.com) for the nt machines. Might save you some headaches later on.
