1700 router setup

By tommymcbrayer ·
New to the router stuff. I have a new remote site connected via a T1. I will have 8 remote users with static ip addresses. All I need to do is tie them into our existing network. I just need to know how to set this up.

Configure the router with an address on the LAN and serial interfaces. Make sure the PCs are set with the E0 interface IP address as the DG.

A T1 is a lot of pipe for 8 users. I suspect you may be frame relay or fractional T1. If frac T don't forget to configure DS0s on CSU/DSU or Serial Interface with internal CSU.

If you need help with routing, post again but give details, RIP/EIGRP/OSPF

good luck!

As they say in those airline disaster movies: "PULL UP!!!PULL UP!!!"

CHECK YOUR EMAIL

ISSUES:

1- DG on remote PCs should be e0 on remote router.

2- You should be able to PING e0 from PC

3- Do SH INT on router both int should be up / up

4- Default route on remote router should be 0.0.0.0 "ip address of s0 on main router" 255.255.255.255

5- Do SH IP ROU on remote router, you should see networks in main LAN and LAN in remote site.

6- If you are using Variable Length Subnet Mask
you must use rip II.

Want to use RIP. I have the remote 1720 ethernet configured to 192.168.56.17 and the 1720 at my main site has 192.168.56.31. The default gateway is set on both 1720 routers to my default gateway on my cabletron ssr200's ip address. I have enabledrouter rip on the 1700's. What else have I left out? The tech is on his way to the remote site now for a test.

Helppppppp!!Testing in progress. Both routers can ping each other and my workstation at the main site can ping the router over at the remote site. The problem is that the workstation attached to the remote site can't see us. What did I miss. The remote workstation is hard coded ip address and the default gateway is pointed to the main site's default gateway.
