1962 boot sequence error

hi i got given a computer and the guy who gave i to me said he didnt know what was on it him self well when i powered it up it came up with its start up screen with IBM then the screen goes black and it beeps the says on screen 1962 Boot Sequence Error

can any one help me please and im not shore what windows it is i think it my be 95/98 thanks please reply

A hard disk drive boot error (error codes 1962 and I999030X) can be caused by the following:

CAUSE ACTIONS
The start-up drive is not in the boot
sequence in configuration. Check the configuration and ensure the start-up drive is in the boot sequence.

No operating system installed on the boot drive.

Install an operating system on the boot drive.

The boot sector on the start-up drive is corrupted.

The drive is defective. Replace the hard disk drive.

This machine is an IBM Netvista. I went into the start sequence and set the 1. to floppy, 2. hardrive0, 3. optics and 4. disabled network. Computer started up.
