    2 Exchange Domain names

    Locked

    by mcse75 ·

My company is in the process of changing our domain name(ie. http://www.dmn.com to http://www.domain.com), and everything has gone smoothly except for the exchange server.

I would like to keep our existing email addresses live(user@dmn.com), while also having the addresses from the new domain name(user@domain.com)live as well.

I would like to know if this is possible, and if so, how to do it.

I have a fairly good grasp of exchange, it’s just that I have never done this before.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, it is possible and once the MX records on your DNS server are correctly configured for both domain names, here’s what you do on the Exchange side.

On the routing tab of the Internet Mail Service properties page, click “re-route incoming SMTP…” and make an entry for each domain name and enter the routing destination as “inbound”. You may have some user-level glitches, but you can enter both addresses for a user account and set the new address to be the default return address.

      Hope that helps…

        Hi Paul,

        That makes things alot clearer.
I was just a bit wary about this, I have never done this before and I was worried there would be some quirks here and there that would cause me endless nightmares.

        Thanks

        Donovan
