2 installations of XP on 1 partition??

By Ian Boothby ·
I reinstalled XP as it was corrupt. I answered YES to the DELETE EXISTING WINDOWS when it found it and actually watched the progress bar as it deleted. I then carried on with the install - But now when it boots, I am now asked from which XP installation I want to boot from. How can I stop this?

What you're seeing is the entries for the boot.ini file. You can edit the file and remove the extra line that identifies the previous operating system. Prior to doing so, make sure you have a backup. Also, if you don't see the boot.ini file in your root, then you'll need to view hidden files by using the attrib command (if working from the prompt) or if viewing from the GUI enabling hidden files.
