2 NIC card in PC

By tRippin ·
I have 4 pc
each have 2 network card.
1 NIC for Local Intranet and Internet use
2nd NIC for private use .. link to a switch box running private ip 192.x.x.x for printing to 1 specifc printer for the 4 pcs.
When i boot up pc, i am able to print.
Using Cmd, i am able to ping the 2 ips i am holding, for NIC1 and NIC 2,
but unable to ping beyond the segment i am in.
After i disable and re-enable back the 2nd NIC, i am able to ping beyond my segment.
Each time i reboot the problem will recurs, unable to ping beyond my segment again till i did the above steps.

Any solution?

Do you have a default gateway set on each adaptor?

Okay... easy enough to fix then :)

The Network card for the Intranet and Internet requires a default gateway (default gateway is defined as the route to the network 0.0.0.0 aka everything else that's not already defined).

The Network card for the private network printing doesn't require this information since it only has to get to the 192.x.x.x address space. That address space is directly connected, so doesn't need to route.

Removing the default gateway address from the second Network card should fix this problem.
