I am installing a 3rd computer onto an already existing network of 2 pc's.
I have a intel inbuisness 4 port fast hub, ports 1 and 2 are taken by the already existing computers. I plug in the 3rd pc and the indicator light for the 3rd port does not turn on. I have tried swapping ports and cable. The nic card in the 3rd computer is a realtek8029 and it works fine on another network connected with a crossover cable with another pc.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

What port are you plugging in the 3rd PC? I know that there are hubs that have a special port where you can switch it to crossover to connect to other hubs using a regular cable to avoid making a crossover cable. Also check the ethernet card. If it has autosensing (10/100Mbs, full/half duplex), it might not be able to be auto-configured correctly. Try disabling the autosensing and set it manually.

I would try putting the NIC in another slot. That sometimes resolves the problem. If you're not getting a light at all, I'm betting there's not even any juice going through that NIC. This might be overly obvious, but also doublecheck the workgroup/domains and the IP addresses (if you're even using addresses).
