I would like to install a larger hard drive (Maxtor 20gb EIDE/ATA133 as a slave in an older Dell. I know that there is no BIOS extension available to support more than 6.4gb. The Maxtor software (latest version, XP compatible) will not recognize thedrive no matter what the jumper settings. Although I can use the Maxtor software to partition and format the drive if installed alone in the system, it is still not recognized afterward by the BIOS. Is there a way I can make this work? I could get asmaller drive, but it’s hard to pass up the $10 I paid for the Maxtor new after rebate. Thanks.
