2000 Server on a Gigabyte MB

By stngfan1 ·
Has anyone istalled 2000 server on a Gigabyte MB?

I'm having problems getting the software to load. It won't copy any files. It will start the install then it will say can't copy this file, retry or continue without copying. If I keep hittingreturn it keeps saying can't copy the file. I have to hit F3 to skip, but it skips every file, so this in no good.

Will the install work with a Celeron processor?

The requirment from MS is only a Pentium compatible CPU.

I have a P3 at 1 GHz. 256 Mb ram, 4 gig free on the HDD.

From what I can see on MS HCL is computers not MBs.

Thanks for any help

TM.

The file copy error happens after the install of the files from the CD-Rom to the HDD. Its after the restart, were you take the CD out and the actul setup starts, after you agree to the disclamer, pick and format a partion to install the NOS.

The MB has a Nvidia chipset not Intel.

during reboot after initial copy of files to H/Drive(if not already set)hit (delete) and go into bios, make sure that boot sequence is set to floppy,H/Drive,CD-rom, save settings and exit.

after reboot you need to leave your win2k cd in the drive for start of configuration, (this is the reason why you have files missing) its looking for files on the win2k CD.

if when you have the option to skip file appears, check the path to where the original files where copied to on hard drive and you will probably find that its still searching for installation files from the win2k Cd which you have already taken out of the drive after first reboot.

if you have any problems post back here. good luck!

Remember that your machine REQUIRES the win2k CD to format the drive after first reboot, and accepting disclaimer.
