2000 server permissiona

By knightleo ·
I am trying to use a 2000 server on a NT network. I used robocopy to move a directory from an NT Server to 2000 server. The rights appear to have transfered properly, but I can not see any of the groups on the domain that aren't defau;t groups, but I can see the users. Do I have a service turned on I don't need or one I need to turn on, or is there anything else that can help the situation.

You'd have to specify more information.
Did you in any way LINK the domains of the 2000 server and NT? Trusts etc.?
Without that, do not expect the rights to transfer at all - the 2000 server just won't be aware of the NT userid's and so on. Only the default groups have standard SID's on app platforms.
The fact that you tell 'you can see the users' does not make things more clear. Maybe while copying to 2000, W2K has created new userid's with the same name as NT but of course a different SID? That would explain why you don't see the groups.

Please clarify, then we can help further...

In followup to the response above, how was this W2K server built? If it was not built as a member server and properly joined to the NT domain, that's where your problem is.
