2000 startup error

When Win2000 workgroup server boots – early in the boot cycle a box says “failed to login to open registry handle in API Poll” What is the best way to find out whats going on & removing this problem from happening at boot. After ckicking OK the bootcycle continues and the screen strangly flashes a couple of different colors, then all is well. Again – what’s happening & how do I fix it? A couple of people say – don’t worry about it – it’s nothin. Are they correct?
