Seem to be having a recent issue on my Dell 2950 4gb Ram and 6HDD 36×2 Raid1 300×4 Raid 5.
Working with Dell all drivers / Firmware up to date and problem persists. All hardware diagnostics from Dell are Green no Problems or Warnings.
Usually When the Server is under load (many CAD08 Users using Civil3d & 8am Users logging in) The system will just Freeze for a Few seconds.) Then Resume. At first I thought Might be an AutoCAD issues or network Issues. But I Removed all old network hardware and implemented all new Cisco Switches and problem persists so I know without a doubt that the problem is in the Server. OS or Hardware?
Thought because I had two DNS’ and a backup DC that that might be the issue but dropped the second dns from the DHCP and set my machine to static and connect to the same gbit switch as the server and problem is consistent for me during these outages as well.
When I RDP to the Server during these times I am able to connect however the console won’t load until the freeze has passed.
Not many out of place errors on the server except there is a Master Browser showing up recently several times a day. Unable to retrieve list of computers from the master browser” this is the DC so I ‘m not sure why its not itself the master browser or able to speak effectively to the other DC on the same GB Switch.
Ideas and tests would be wonderful.
I am currently thinking hardware but my configuration could just as easily be the issue but never had this issue before and have had much heavier loaded servers (just not with 900Gb on one server though in storage 50% used and still going though pretty good exercises)
CAD Drawings being used are typically not too big like 3-20 Mbytes and then Reference 10-20 other things on the network as well. Like Arial Images or whatever in Tiff / Jpeg Form. These are the larger files that are opened. Sometimes 100MB or more… however these are view only but still poses a large amount of file use…
again let me know the thoughts…
I am more than willing to listen but I have a pretty much 18 Hour shop so even weekends I don’t get much testing time… But I want the issue solved!
