I want to add 20GB Maxtor HDD into my PII 266MHZ whose motherboard is Intel AL440LX. Initially, the BIOS reads my new 20GB HDD but does not boot up. So I boot it (new HDD) in a new CPU and installed WIN2k Pro& other software. Then I fixed it up inmy old CPU(PII 266MHZ) and tried to boot it. The BIOS once again reads the 20GB HDD & tries to load the WIN2K. Suddenly it goes back to the first screen when booting up then load again the WIN2K then repeats the cycle over and over again. It fails to get into the login screen of Win2K.
I check the manual of the motherboard to see what it supports. It mentions the processor speed + the SDRAM. But nothing was mentioned on HDD capacity.
Is there any way I can use my 20GB in my PII266 CPU? I would appreciate your help in this regard.
