2.5 HD enclosure-where is it?

By skunker505 ·
I recently bought a usb enclosure for a fujitsu 2.5 hard drive that came out of an mp3 player. I wanted to use it to access the files on the drive through my computer because my mp3 player stopped working. So I plugged it in, windows recognized it and everything, but I don't know how to get to the files. It shows up in device manager and says it's working and everything. Is there a way to get to my mp3's?

You could try this method.

1) Open up the drive in My Computer.

2) Follow these instructions:

Click Tools.
Click Folder Options.
Click "View" Tab.
Click the radio button that says "Show Hidden Files and Folders".

That could display it all for you.

If not, try and find someone with a Linux Machine you could use, that generally picks things up for my that Window doesn't.

Hope this helps you.

You could also try a Live Linux in your computer

This is a OS that runs off a CD and loads into RAM so you can run Linux on your computer without affecting you're Windows Install.

If you would like to try this you can go to your local News Agent and ask them for a Linux Mag with a Live Linux on the Cover or download one of the many available Live Linuxes that are available.

Because you are looking at both a Windows and a unknown format HDD I would suggest Knoppix STD as the best alternative and it's available for download or to buy from here

This really is a Must Have item in any tool kit as it's so useful to break into Windows Systems and by pass Passwords and the like. If you want the direct download site it's here
