Is there a way around the 2gig root partition barrier in WindowsNT?

Sure there is.

I use Partition Magic to create an NTFS partition.

Then you install NT into the existing NTFS partition.

Now there is a limit on the size the root partition can be. It is somewhere around 7 gb. Once over that limit NT will not boot.

You can make any other partiton large, just not the root partition.

To not have to worry about this just upgrade to Windows 2000.

I just start with a blank disk with no partitions and let NT setup partition and format. I think the max going that route is like 6 gigs.
