2k and XP won't network.

By Antknee26 ·
I have an XPpro pc and a 2kpro pc connected to a small switch sharing a DSL connection. They are both workgroup machines. I have norton internet security on both machines. Both machines can access the internet simultaneously with no problem, BUT, I cannot get them to "see" eachother. I've tried disabling Norton internet security, but it had no affect. Any suggestions? Both pc's are always logged on as administrator. Please let me know if more details are needed.

thanks

Also, if possible, please provide a "fix" that will allow me to network while keeping my norton internet security enabled.

Add the 2k machine as a user on the XP box

ok...

1. You must have the same user on each pc... along with the same passwords...

2. Winxp - Disable XP's firewall

3. Norton security - Not sure if it does blocking or whatnot, but go through the settings and allow lan - lan access from whatever your internal I.P.'s are.

4. You said a switch, now is this a router? or just a switch?... Router - go into the settings there also and alo lan-lan traffic.

5. Setup a share folder on each pc and then map them bad boys... all there is to it...
