2k desktop changes schemes all by itself

    Locked

Shortly after updating my antivirus signature (PC Cillin 2000) and installing sp2 on my win2k machine, I noticed that the desktop scheme changed from classic windows to standard windows on its own. At the same time, my internet configuration was “lost”. The settings were still there, but when launching IE 5 it brought up the ie setup wizard. I had no choice but to reconfigure IE. It kept my favorites, though, once it was set up. My outlook express settings were OK, though, until about 2 days later, then I had to reconfigure outlook. Then 2 days after that, my desktop changed again and my IE configuration was once again “lost”. I rebooted and loaded lkg, and the desktop was still incorrect, but my ie configuration was OK. I have checked for viruses, etc. Could sp2 be causing this? I have heard nothing about this in regard to sp2. Help?

      some suggestions
Your profile seems to corrupt frequently.
      1. Check the harddisk for any error
      2. Try to create a new user. Login as the new user and config all things again, e.g. desktop scheme, IE setting, email accounts. and use this account for a period to time to see if everything ok. If ok, your old account files may already corrupted, del the whole profile and create again.

      Hope it can help.

That certainly sounds feasible, especially in a windows nt4 environment. Since I haven’t had problems of this nature in win2k, I didn’t think about that. I gave it a try, but had the same problems with the new profile, so this didn’t work. Good suggestion, though. Thanks.
