NW setup:
I have 5 computers on the same network. PC-A is subversion server, while PC-B, PC-C, PC-D, & PC_E all are clients for this subversion. All systems are connected via cat5e cable going into 24 port switch which is in turn connected to a DSL router.
All 4 users on system B-E have either power user or user level accounts. Admin account is maintained on all 5 systems but is not given to respective system users.
Problem 1:
PC-A,B,C & D can ping each other and are also able to connect to the subversion server, while PC-E can do the same on its end(ping every other system and connect to the server) but none of the other 4 systems can ping PC-E. A request time out error is received on both ping & tracert commands. All 5 pcs can access internet.
Problem 2:
Guest accounts are disabled on all machines except server. Now, in order to share files/folders a shared folder on server is used by all. What can be done to allow users to share their files/folders with each other without enabling guest accounts or creating user accounts on all pcs? (guest accounts were disabled because they were being misused and user accountability could not be established.
Problem 3:
A printer is attached to the server and is shared by all 5 systems. They can all print easily. Issue is, how can the server maintain a log which clearly states which document was printed & by whom? At the moment, the printer log only shows “Remote Downlevel Document” as document name & Owner as “Guest” for all users and all documents, except of course local print commands where it displays correct owner/document name.
