3.5′ disk drive problems

by jwdurant . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

I have a 600Mhz celeron, with 256mb of RAM. For a week now, Everytime I boot up my system, it loads through all boot commands and configurations. Then right before Win98se is finished loading, the computer tries to read my 3.5′ disk drive. If it finds nothing in the drive nothing happens, Win98se finishes loading and everything is fine. But, if it finds something in the drive the computer freezes, gives me a blank screen and I have to hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE several times before it will restart. I can’t find anything running that does this, and can’t find anything in my config files or the registry. What could it be? (I have loaded no programs that deals with my 3.5′ disk drive in the last 6 months)
