Connecting to a 3Com OfficeConnect ISDN LAN Modem [3c891] from a Cisco803 fails upon the cisco reporting “user ‘3Com’ not defined” during CHAP negotiation. My 3Com dial-in defined user is named ‘FPOS1234’. This is also the name of the cisco router. The user ‘3Com’ is not to be found anywhere in the 3Com configuration evironment. Hence I don’t know the password if I where to define this fixed user in the cisco users list.
Anyone know why the 3Com LAN modem uses the name ‘3Com’ when authenticating, alternatively how to connect a Cisco803 to a 3Com ISDN Lan modem using unnumbered WAN adresses and CHAP?
(PS! The 3Com dials in to the Cisco just fine, but not vice versa.)
