I am a software application consultant. In the course of a day I may visit several clients and login to their domain with my Windows 98 notebook for training, troubleshooting, internet access, etc. Until recently I have been using 3Com Mobil Connection manager to handle the switching of IP configurations, default printers and domain names. It worked great.
I have now UPGRADED (not a fresh install) to Win 2000 Pro. I have also upgraded to the latest version of 3Com Mobile Connection Manager. The 3Com installation went fine with no errors but now when I try to use it, I get the following message.
Error: 140-005-025 Your account does not have adequate permission to access system configuration settings. Contact your system administrator.
This message occurs even if I login as administrator. I have called 3Com but have had no luck resolving the problem. I have installed the program on several other W2k workstations without a problem, so the problem must be associated with my workstation alone. Is it possible that the fact that I did an upgrade from Win 98 and not a clean install has created this issue?
Any ideas?
