3com Wireless Card Issue

By Zerk112 ·
Anyone had problems with the 3com 3CRDW696 model wireless cards. Although the signal strength shows as Good to Excelent, web pages fail to load most of the time. When the card has first been installed it loads fine, but if you close the browser open it again and try to load the page, it fails (page cannot be displayed).

MAC authetication has been verified, access point is 15 feet away, and the previous cards (3com 3CRWE777A) worked fine (the cards were needed else where so they can not be put back). Also, the DLink DWL-500 model card seems to work fine in the same environment.

Any ideas or similar issues to report?

Strange problem.

You've done a good job trying to isolate this. I know your analysis so far seems to point to intermittent good behavior with the one 3COM card. That's a paradox and doesn't make sense hence your question here. But, often the answer to a paradox is a breakdown in one of the foundations of the paradox.

1. If you're using IE, be sure it is really ever getting a new page downloaded vs. a cached page. Aggressive IE client-side page caching can be easily mistaken for new pages being downloaded.

2. Try PING to network locations to be sure the network is really working both before and after the browser appears to stop working.

You may have already tried these as your question shows you have knowledge of things.

Did this help with your problem?
