3Com WX2200 Firmware Upgrade

By kevinshain ·
Hi,

It appears our firmware on our 3Com WX2200 controller is not compatible with Vista and this can be fixed by upgrading the firmware, however I cannot figure out how to do this. I have the upgrade from 3Com, but see no way to apply it as I don't have the Wireless Lan Switch Manager(3WXM). I downloaded a demo of 3WXM, but it refuses to connect to my switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

3Com WX2200 Firmware Upgrade

by steves In reply to 3Com WX2200 Firmware Upgr ...

What version is your WX2200 ?
If you have Rel 4.2.10, then you can directly upgrade to Rel 6.0. Other than that, you have to upgrade to 4.2.10 first, then to the latest
You do not need 3WXM to upgrade the firmware.
Use the serial console & TFTP to upload the new firmware. Backup everything & check which partition your WX use (boot0 or boot1)
If you download the firmware from 3Com, its include the 'how to' in pdf file.
