3rd prty adpter drvrs for on-board video

By dflory ·
How can I change the display adapter drivers? I have the correct drivers on my computer for the on-board video. I log in as Administrator, go to the display adapter?s settings, click to change the driver, I the go to where I saved the driver, select it, it runs, but then it gives me this error message saying I may not have the privileges to change the driver. How can I get the privilages or bypass this? I need to changes the drivers on several other workstations. This is on a WinNT 4 networkwith WinNT 4 workstations.

"Administrator" is a name given to a user -- just like any other name. Go to START : Programs :Adminstrative Tools (common) andselect User Manager. Once ther, check that the "Administrator" user does indeed have the Administrator privledge.

Well I had this kind of problem, but i managed to solve it was because I did not use the correct drivers, but first of all do you log in as the administrator on the workstations?

Give me some more information and I will help you more.

Please read the question completely. Yes, I log on as Administrator, but it still does not allow me to change the drivers. Yes, I do have the correct drivers. I even made sure that Administrator had the correct privilages, but still doesn't work.

I found out by personal experimentation that this error comes up when trying to use drivers that are not compatible with WIn NT 4. I found other drivers from Compaq's website and used them instead of the ones that cam with the computer (even thoughthe documentation said that they were for WinNT4). They worked. So double check your drivers when you get that messege.
