I’m new to DSL, switch over from Cablevision. Paid for 3M down/
768K up. But in practical usage, ie downloading iTune songs seems
slow. So I went onto “speakeasy.net”‘s website for speed test which
actually confirms my download speed ~ 2M down. When calling
Verizon DSL, they informed me the Westell 327W DSL Modem has it’s
own speed test results given in the “My Gateway” section. Mine
shows Connected with 3360K down / 864K up.
My question for the Westell experts, is the info in the 327w DSL
Modem in the “My Gateway” just informational or is it really an actual
speed. The reason I’d ask is because it also shows my user name,
and actual WAN IP address. So I assume these were all info capture
from some database. Can someone please confirm? Because when
I called Verizon DSL Techs, all they say is “well according to your
modem at your home, it’s telling us 3360/864”. and they simply
would close the case? wierd… since in pratical usage, I know I’m not
getting that speed. what can I do?
Please help… does the “My Gateway” section within the 327w model
really show the speed or is it just some sort of purchase SLA?
