Couple or three missing details ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to 4gb ram,amd turion 64x2,n ...

What operating system ?
Which member of the GeForce family ?
AMD TL- ?

You'll only have access to 3.3GB (Maximum!).

Depending on what memory is currently fitted, and which operating system you have, 2GB may prove to be sufficient.

Notebook Upgrades

by TheChas In reply to 4gb ram,amd turion 64x2,n ...

If I looked up the correct model, this is a notebook. As such, your upgrade options are VERY limited.

First, you CANNOT change the graphics on a notebook. There is no place to plug in a graphics card.

Second, you are limited to 2 GB of RAM. This is generally the only upgrade you can make to a laptop and is worth doing.

Third, Compaq made this model with a number of different processors and system boards. "IF" the CPU is in a socket, you "MAY" be able to upgrade. Even then, your choices will be limited by what the BIOS can recognize.

My recommendation, upgrade the RAM to 2 GB and call it good.

Chas
