5 Peice sorround sound 3 speakers not working

By metslinky ·
Ok so i just bought a 5 peice Acoustic Authority 5.1 speakers and i had to buy a 5.1 sound card along, because the one i had did not support the speakers i had. Problem is, i plugged all 5 speakers in including the subwoofer but only my two front work. The other three, which are the center, and the back two which operate off differnt lines are not working, there on but music, and gaming sound don't come out. The two front operate off one line/jack and the back two operate of a differnt line/jack and the center too has it's own line/jack. I tried to change the computer formatting and but i found out they were already set at 5.1. I have no idea as far as th e problem and i don't think it's the sound card because my front two work fine, and i tried all the others on a cd play and they worked just fine. anyone have any idea what i could do?
any help appreciated..thanks!

Sorry you've completely lost me with this bit

Was this in the Computer or connecting the Different lines up to the Front Speaker Jack or just running the Speakers directly off the Sound Card?

The normal thing that you need to look at is open the Control Panel double click on the Sound Icon and then click on Options,Advanced and add the rear and middle speaker controls to the layout then set the sound level for these. If they are already present in the Sound Volume Control make sure that they are enabled and set to a decent level.

I'm supposing that you did install the necessary Drivers for the New Sound Card as well here.

so the speakers that are on but not working on the surround sound which are the 2 rear and center i did a test on them with my cd player to see if they worked, and indeed they did. The speakers are connected to my subwoofer and the woofer goes to my sound card. What i did do in control panel is change the settings to 5.1, im not sure what u meant in your directions, i have an xp setup control panel, so yours might be different. but do you have an AOL Instant messenger or yahoo or something where i can talk to u directly? Im not sure how to add the speakers. but i appreciate the response. thx

what sound card is it?

What is the make of the sound card? you might have your speakers pluged into the wrong jacks on the sound card itself.(my soundcard has 6 output jacks available, so if I plug the speaker jacks in the wrong plugs, I don't get sound from the speakers that are pluged in wrong.

Try changing your speaker output cables around to different sockets until you get the right match.
