I need to move an * gb file to my Novell server 6. We took the user restriction off. Tried FTP. Tried Zipping.. Tried just about everything. The file goes to 3.99 gb and stops..Does anybody have a fix for this..

Thanks
Jeff

As a last resort, temorarily move the drive onto the server.

Copy the file, and remove the drive.

You could also try one of the file splitter programs that are out there for people sending large files via e-mail.

Check your favorite freeware site for at least a trial version.

Have You tried running Vrepair on that volume ?
try this at a dismounted volume and when the users are not loged on ..(after hours that is)
after that (this should solve any file related problems)
Perform a single file backup and a redirected restore of your file new fileserver .. (mind the TSA's to be upto date)
you could use toolbox.nlm(for Novell) to move/delete the orginal file the file.

This problem could be that it is a spares file
10k of real data and the rest are blanks to allocated the file lengte (uncompressing could be a real nightmare be sure the is pleanty of space availble)

Try using a 10/100 hub with just the source and server attached. I think the traffic demands of the rest of the network are causing your problem.

I take it this 8Gb file sits on a PC. If so can you use your server backup software to backup the PC over night and then do a restore of the file but to a different location i.e. SYS or VOL1
