98 Freeze after Shared Printer output

Win98 LAN, DOS Foxpro program, Shared Brother 1040. Have been printing fine until recently. Local printer still prints fine, but other computers sending output to the printer will Blue Screen “VXP VMM(11)” when exiting the DOS program. The output actully prints okay, but the remote computers crash. Only change I know of is Windows Update downloads. Is Microsoft trying to force XP on me? Can’t seem to find any other answer for the problem.
