Today, a DOS exe was triggered by (likely) the network administrator. What does this program do?

If it was in fact a dos.exe file, it will definitly be a virus or spyware. The actual DOS file would be dos.com (if I remeber my DOS stuff). But yes, dos.exe is BAD BAD BAD COMPANY!
Not sure what it does but I have cleaned out plenty of those file names using Norton AV. You may also want to give Spybot and Adaware a try.
Good luck.
