A drive

By trclerk2 ·
My A drive is installed, but when I try to use it I get a message that the drive is not available. This happened when I went through the confirmation in the setup mode.

did you just put this system together?

Is the light on? - Cable on backwards

Did you go into the bios and enable the A drive?

Power cable plugged into it?

Assuming the drive is properly connected, you may need to install the IDE driver for the chip-set on your motherboard.

This is very true for Windows 98 and Me.

If the driver is not the problem, could you please give us some system details?

Version of Windows

Other hardware connected to the system.

Depending on the size of the Hard Drive and the Age of the motherboard there may be a BIOS limitation most older MB will not see above 32GB(check the hard drive instructions for a limmiting jumper to drop the size of the drive)or try looking at the motherboard manufacturers web site for a bios update.
