    A Fatal Exception in Windows 98

    When I installing Windows 98 and it almost complete setup and this message came out. “A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:00700465. The current application will be terminated.” What should I do to settle is problem?

      This could be a corrupt registry file that is causing the error or you may have a hardware or software incompatiblity for Reference see Microsoft knowledgebase articles Q150314 and Q131431 for solutions

      Since there is nothing on your computer you care about yet, try re-installing win98 and see if you get the error message again. If you do chances are you have bad memory and need to replace it. When you cant get through an install with windows more than likely it is a hardware problem.

      Could be you have antivirus running in the BIOS turn it off this may fix the prob

      A slightly dodgy Windows 98 CD-ROM can sometimes result in odd errors during the install.

      a quick solution is to run fdisk on your hard drive- this will wipe it clean- it is not properly loading a registry file- sometimes a bad cd rom will not load all the files or find all the files durring set up- or possibly a small fingerprint or scratch on the cd- suggestion fdisk hard drive and use toothpaste on the cd rom-
      and rince it off and try it again
