A history lesson – by me (unfortunately).

When you opened this post – I hope you’ve opened it! – you were presented with recognisable words (actually recognisable letters which your brain forms into words) and the story goes on.

Having spent a fair proportion of my working life in the ‘Print Game’, what many folk would call the media industry, it never fails to amaze me how simply images are presented and cast over as if they were always supposed to be there. I’ve begun to view flatscreen monitor images in much the same way as I used to view ink on paper.

‘Ink on Paper’ used to be a commodity that everyone could see, but few could actually produce – the techniques involved, mainly photographic (involving many striations of fresnel screens to allow interpolation of colours without clash) are now all simple to produce on a flatscreen monitor. It is literally what you see…

There is actually no point to my post, other than to illustrate how lucky we all are, that images can be broadcast round the world in an instant, simply on a whim.

That’s basically all I have to say.
