I have a client that is running an application that takes 4 minutes to open over a network connection. There are 8 machines total running W2K Pro each and the Wintotal 2000 software is being hosted on a P4 1.4GHz, 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD PC. On the server the application runs like a champ with absolutely no hesitation but on the network it’s a different story. I’ve tried swapping both the NIC’s and the Hub. I’ve updated the software as instructed by their tech support. Their tech support says that it has something to do with my clients network. I’ve even tried running both TCP/IP and NetBeui to no avail–same results. Everything else seems to run fine, data files for Wordperfect open and close up quickly. Ping is under 10ms, even with a packetsize of 65500. I tried hooking the server to a standalone workstation both with new NIC’s–thinking that maybe there could be a bad wire slowing things down–I got the same results again.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have definitely gotten stumped on this one.
