A laptop for ADSL or office network

By tcraigscott ·
I am using NT 4.0 and am setting up a laptop for remote use with ADSL but it will also be needed for use in the office witch an ADSL connection is not present. I thought that setting up separate hardware profiles would work but it doesn't go to the extent of changers I need for the switch from ADSL to Current network. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Network issue...?

Craig,

You say that you don't have ADSL at the office, but I assume that you have some sort of LAN. What type of changes do you need to make to switch between local and remote use (IP address, network protocols, hostname, etc.)? ONe problem youcould run into is that if your users are logging onto the domain at the office, and they don't do the same remotely, they will need a local machine login identity to use when connecting remotely.

If they're only using the internet when connectingremotely and not connecting via VLAN or VPN, it may be a proxy server issue. IF that's the case, check IE or Netscape's proxy settings. The ADSL should be set to use no proxy, or to automatically detect the proxy server.

Good luck!
