My daughter whom has severe dyslexia uses a second hand macbook air bought end of 2015 for her school work. She has not backed up her work since Sep and has somehow the macbook has become encrypted (according to apple technician) and she cannot even log on. We brought the macbook into Apple and they stated that the encryption was probably put in place by the previous owner and nothing they can do. I am not sure why it has only just happened, but are Apple right? I have tried contacting the previous owner, but as yet to no avail. Are apple right? Is there literally nothing i can do
?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
