A program that ONLY tells me the brand and model of my hardware?

By DanaNicole76 ·
Is there a program that will just analyze my computer and tell me the make and model of each individual hardware installed?

My reason behind this is this:
I have no clue as to what GeGorce nForce Network adapter I have OR graphics card I have.
I have no clue as to what the sound card is,
and etc etc.

Thanks!

Limitations

by TheChas In reply to A program that ONLY tells ...

All of the programs that report on the installed devices in your computer can only report what is in the registry for the devices. Or, what information is stored in the firm-ware of the device itself.

If you have tried some of the listed software, or Belarc Advisor, You are likely aware of the limitation. Which is why you are asking for something different.

In reality, it does not matter what specific graphics card or sound device is in your computer unless you are looking to upgrade the firm-ware or BIOS.

From the generic chip-set and device ID information, you can download the chip manufactures "reference" drivers and 95% of the time all will work properly.

Only in the rare instance where a card manufacture makes use of special features or functions does installing the actual card manufactures driver make any difference.

All of the above stated, this site:

has some very good links to resources that can extract the maximum amount of information about system devices and PCI cards specifically.
