A Sad Farewell

It is with great regret that I bid you all farewell. I've been a member for a long time and I will miss some of you very much but I just can't stand the recent changes to TR. There are a few tech web sites out there that still care more about content and usability than 'pretty' and 'new'.

Max: Keep up the fight for the truth.

You can't leave

by maxwell edison In reply to A Sad Farewell

You don't have a Constitutional right to leave.

That's what people think, isn't it? If the right is not enumerated in the U.S. Constitution, then no right exists? That the U.S. Constitution defines rights granted to the people, not the powers the people grant to the government?

Okay, how's this:

You can't leave. You're one of the few people around here who agrees with me!

I don't like the new layout either. Just like I don't like the direction our country has taken over the past forty years. But that's no reason to leave either.

Sorry to see you go.

FWIW. I don't like it either.

also wish you wouldn't leave

by PurpleSkys In reply to A Sad Farewell

when they first started with the new site, i did my best to remain as open-minded as i could. As with all things new, it takes time to adjust to how they work. I'm not struck on it, but I'm hanging in there. I wish you well and hope that our paths cross elsewhere in the future.

The place where you post obituaries. What's not to like.

Wow, a strong statement about the new layout

You will be missed, and welcomed back if you do decide to return.

We are sad to hear that...

by tcavadias Staff In reply to A Sad Farewell

We do know that change is not always easy and with it, come aspects that some folks don't like, while other aspects they do.

I myself have several things I just much prefer the "old" way. I have though learned to go with the times (even if I must go kicking and screaming sometimes).

While the pages that make up TR have changed - been given a new look, made social networking much easier, etc... there is one thing that hasn't changed - and that is the people contained within. No matter what pretty wrapping paper and bows you put onthe outside, the inside is what really counts - the people - you - the community.

I do hope you will rethink your decision and stick around.

"made social networking much easier"

by neilb@uk In reply to We are sad to hear that.. ...

Tammy, for some of us this is one of our social networks and I, for one, don't feel that it's been made easier.

One example. The simple act of clicking on a thread title no longer displays the thread's first post. OK, so scrolling down past "Just in" and "Top Rated" isn't an impossible chore but it's just annoying. There are other annoyances as well, for me, but this isn't the place.

There may be ways for me to make this site work for me and give me what I used to have but, so far, I can't see how and I'm still undecided whethe it's worth the effort.

I feel the same.

I agree. This is so annoying. I've actually visited TR less since the "upgrade." I don't totally hate it because the content is still good, but the packaging is far from good. The packaging is just becoming more annoying with each visit. The main attraction of TR (for me) is the discussions and since they're screwed up, how can I enjoy TR?
