A slow network connection is detected

By andrew.myers ·
There are four servers that I can log into, two Windows Server 2003 and two Windows Server 2008, all at the same location. When I log into the Domain Controller I get the:

A slow network connection is detected for the roaming profile [my profile] it will not be synchronized with the profile on this computer.

On all the other servers there is no problem.

Any ideas?

Andrew

If you ping the DC, what kind of response time do you get?

by robo_dev In reply to A slow network connection ...

The definition of 'slow' in this case is less than 500kbits-sec and longer than 120 ms ping time.

"Slow network connection timeout for user profiles"
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc975877.aspx

Any normal functioning LAN should give you response time that is much faster than that.

At a high level, I would guess that there is some sort of LAN misconfiguration between your PC and the DC, but obviously that could be a multitude of different causes and solutions.

I am using a Remote Desktop Connection

by andrew.myers In reply to If you ping the DC, what ...

I should have explained better, I am using a Remote Desktop Connection to all four servers. The DC is the only one to give that message, even though my profile is held on that machine.
If I ping the router I get 63ms average.
