Primal scream

because I need to blame others for my internal conflict.

Remote user, trying to walk him through changing the password on a DSL modem.

He needs to move his network cable for his PC so that it goes to the DSL modem instead of the Linksys box.

It took an hour so far to get that far....

Fine, we finally got that far, now the DSL tech is trying to walk him through logging into the DSL box and now THAT isn't working....

This is killing me.....

When does the pain end?

by jdclyde In reply to Ouch....

Worse? how?

I haven't even gotten to the point of having to walk him through the sonicwall config yet!

This individual is going to set up a Sonicwall by a walkthrough, and he can't even plug a cable into the right box?

I'd say, "Good luck, sir," but you know that look you get from everyone when they all know that you've just become expendable...?

"He was a good man."

change of plans.....

Guess who is taking a road trip next week? Going to shoot for Tuesday.

Monday, will walk the more tech savvy person at the other location through this. We had it, but there was a problem with the cable modem, so it didn't connect. Will have to walk through this with the comcast support monday morning with a conference call.

After that is done, will move our servers to the new network, update DNS and test for the rest of the day.

Tuesday, road trip to the other location and get it going once and for all.

It never ends JD

Remote workers are just a nightmare if they're so inept they can't plug a cable in. I feel your pain. I once drove 2 hrs. each way to a remote office to plug a monitor cable in. They had it plugged in, but not all the way. :^0

3 hours each way

the cable came half out of the wall wart....

walked in, stood in front of the system for a second, grabbed the cable and plugged it in.

I looked at them and said "After years of training, I have found they work better if you plug them in".

Turned around and left.

Yes, I had told them to unplug and replug everything in BEFORE I took the trip.

Big bummer

It is just beyond frustrating that people can't even plug something in, but thats what you get. Its incredible. I always walk away asking myself how these people ever got through college.

This is the DSL gateway?

And when you and probably ten other people asked that the mains and indicator lights be checked,... what?

So what's up with the Netware these days?
