i am trying to access my database from an SQL Server. how do i access it using the remote data control and remote data objects in Visual Basic 6.0? i can view the database from the visual data manager but i can't link the fields to my textboxes. what is the correct connect string for that?

With Sql Server, you generally would use a DSN to connect. If you have a DSN set up then you would use a ADODC control on your form. And then set the properties to look at the DSN. When you have that set up, then you set the data source for the text box to the ado control and the data field to the field you want in your database.

1. First Add Components Remote Data Control if you are talking about Microsoft RDC.
2. Configure the Data Source and add your sql statements
3. Drag the RDC component to the from
4. Drag any remote data control boxes such as Microsoft DBCombo boxes, etc.If you haven't add this choose Add component and choose microsoft dbcombom

5. From the rowsource, supply the remote data source such MSRDC1 if you haven't rename the remoet data name.

Applying remote data to textboxes can't be possible since textbox control can be controlled via DAO,ADODC Connection or a Data Environment Control.
