Some more info

Which desktop? (Gnome/KDE/etc.)

What type of notification? Is this a stand-alone pop-up, or something in the panel notification area?

OK - it's just broken

Look like it is currently non-configurable (even if you are on the app-development side of things).

Shuttleworth even said that it might not exhibit expected behavior once "in the wild", but this is just by design.

Of course, Ubuntu is interested in feedback (let 'em have it!). The new notification is still basically a beta (or alpha) even though it was included in a stable release. Didn't find anything about even turning it off so that behavior defaults to the old methods.

Took forever to find the current and relevant info on this.

Wait - read this (including the comments, just in case)
