Abrupt termination of the SQL Query

By ash_syed ·
I run a query which has around 8 tables linked with one another , the query after
fetching around 60,000 records, stops with
the message
"DB-Library: Attempt to initiate a new SQL Server operation with results pending."
Can anyone give a solution to this problem as I've been racking my brain for quite sometime .
Early response would be very much appreciated

Abrupt termination of the SQL Query

Hi!

I don't recognize the error you get and you don't say which SQL you are running, but if it is MS SQL 6.5 or 7.0 I would suspect that the temp db is too small.

When doing such a large query MS SQL first stores the result in the tempdb before showing the result and if the tempdb is too small you'll get an error.

If it's any other SQL server I might be able to help if I know which one it is, sybase, Oracle, DB2, Informix...

I think it can be caused by reason of too small rollback segment of database.
DMBS can not to finish the transaction correctly, and brake when rollback information is formed.
