I have a clien who has a system that dual boots to win98 & NT4. (i presume using the NT boot loader) He recently had ‘problems’ (amazing the number of people who think that just because you can ‘hot swap’ USB devices now that means you can do it to PS/2 devices as well !!!!??) with his mouse and decided to swap (without shutdown) to his logitech mouse. The system comes in tomorrow. Now when he attempts to get into NT4 after pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del he is locked out – hangs and goes no further. He has Autocad files that he badly wants me to access (‘save’) from the nt partition.(very important) I dont think this end user has the emergency repair disk. Do you folk recomend using the NT setup boot disks and using the ‘R’/repair option? Will thisallow the nt partition to be accessed again without stopping W98+partition from functioning? (customer also has ‘important files on the W98 partition)
Alternatively should i install NT4 on another hdd, set it up as the master and the existing ‘problem’ drive as the slave and access the ntfs/or fat16 partition this way?
