Access 2000 database corruption

By rdpflueger ·
We are using an in house designed Access 2000 database. Whenever users exit the program without using the EXIT button, (by clicking on the Access x or file EXIT) it corrupts the datbase structure. I have to copy the structure file over again. Does anyone have any input on this problem?

Access 2000 database corruption

Well, I am not sure if you can remove the Close button on the Access window itself. I do know you can schedule a database Compact and Repair to run on the database. That might help if it gets corrupted.
You could set up a Scheduled Job on the server that the database is located on. For example, say your database is C:\MYDB\MYDB.MDB. In the job, you want to run the following:
C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT OFFICE\OFFICE\MSACCESS.EXE /REPAIR C:\MYDB\MYDB.MDB

If I remember right, issuing a Repairwill also do a Compact. So, you could set up the Job to run every few hours. If someone has the database open, the Job will fail, since exclusive access is needed.

hope this helps

We have tried running the Compact and repair utility. It does not fix the problem.
