Access 2000 - date formats

By sej ·
I have a date of birth field with a date/time format. Would it be possible to enter "U" for "Unknown" in here as well?

No, not on a date field. Just leave it empty or assign it to a NULL (field =Null). That should identify that there is no date or it is unknown.

I can go one step better than SLCampbell. Write an expression for the control:
=IIF(isnull(DateOfBirth),"U",DateOfBirth). You write this in the expression box found by clicking on the property "control source" under the "Data" tab of the property box for the control.
This way the item in the table is null but appears as "U" on the form.
