Access 2000 & .mdb files

Hi,

We’re currently working with Access 2000 and Access 97 together. That’s not great but we don’t have the choice.

Well, we want the associated program with .mdb to be Access 97. There’s no big problem for this, we use batches to launch the 2000 databases using the /w option and then launch Access 97 /compact without any database associated.

This way, the user clicks on the batch, he gets Access 2000 opening his 2000 database.
If he uses a normal shortcut to a mdb file, he gets 97.
The problem is Windows installer starting everytime we launch Access 2000. I know it registers itself as ‘the program to open .mdb, .mde …’ during that time and does nothing else. This is quite boring for the user. If we could get rid of it, thiswould be perfect as Access 2000 wouldn’t register itself so no more pb.

Does anyone know how to do it ?
